Film, Video Production

Capturing Emerging Minds' Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander National Consultancy Group was a whirlwind of creativity, challenges and culture

The film project unfolded in a single, tightly choreographed day, maneuvering around the group's planning day at the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre. Alongside the Flinders Medical Centre, the location came with its own set of challenges.

Between grumbling traffic, wailing sirens, and shifting winds, I had to stay nimble, both on set and in the edit. Anchored by key interviews and contextual cutaways, the end product emerged in post, turning a tricky shoot into a showcase of First Nations knowledge and resilience.

Project outcomes

  • Planned and delivered a full-day film shoot, capturing 9 interviews and over 50 supporting b-roll clips
  • Transcribed and edited interview content into a cohesive 7-minute final video
  • Extracted and edited a suite of high-quality stills from captured footage
  • Used advanced post-production techniques, including content-aware fill, to remove lapel mics from interview subjects
  • Collaborated with a First Nations specialist to ensure respectful and accurate representation
