Filming for children's mental health
At Emerging Minds, I captured content that explored the complexities of children's mental health
Understanding child mental health and chronic physical conditions
I filmed child actor Poppy on location for the Understanding Child Mental Health and Chronic Physical Conditions online course. The aspiring performer, who overcame a ventricular septal defect (VSD) as a baby, brought a heartfelt perspective to the project. The three-hour shoot included her delivering the course introduction, a short interview, and capturing supporting footage, providing a natural backdrop for her story.
Culturally responsive practice strategies for children's mental health
Over the three-day shoot, we captured personal experiences shared by practitioners and families with English as a second language. Recording the course introduction, with participants reading in their native languages from a two-way teleprompter, added a rewarding challenge to a complex project.
Supporting children who have experienced trauma – Flinders University course
Introductions for the Supporting Children Who Have Experienced Trauma microcredentials course, coordinated through Flinders University, were filmed in the organisation's compact podcast room. Juggling four cameras, the three-hour solo shoot produced preambles for each of the 12 weekly modules, plus an overall course explanation.
Supporting infants and children in disasters: A practice guide
Following my full-time role at Emerging Minds, I freelanced on the organisation's large-scale Supporting infants and children in disasters: A practice guide. Across the three-month project, I filmed 15 interviews with practitioners and partners across four states, transcribing and uploading each for review. From the selected material, I produced 30 videos, ranging from three to seven minutes, exploring disaster-related topics.
